Tension Control Bolts and the innovative Shear Wrench system offer several significant health, safety and environmental benefits.

  • Bolts are installed using non-impacting electric shear wrenches
  • No risk of HAVS (Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome)
  • Light weight installation tools reduces operator fatigue
  • Environmentally friendly Greenkote® corrosion protection
  • No acid or mordant required to etch bolts prior to painting

Shear Wrenches

wrenches hseNon-impacting electric Shear Wrenches supplied by TCB eliminate the risk of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS). HAVS is an industrial injury triggered by continuous use of vibrating hand-held machinery. Organisations that fail to protect their employees from the risks of HAVS could potentially face costly personal injury claims and/or regulatory action.

The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005, created under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is the legislation in the UK that governs exposure to vibration and assists with preventing HAVS occurring. Tools are tested for vibrational magnitude and given an Exposure Action Value (EAV); this value is the time a tool can be used before action needs to be taken to reduce vibration exposure. The Exposure Limit Value (ELV) is the maximum amount of time that a tool can be used for.

Those working with shear wrenches supplied by Tension Control Bolts Ltd are exposed to very low vibration magnitude. This results in an extremely low exposure points per hour/time to reach the exposure action value (EAV) and therefore the time to reach the exposure limit value (ELV) is not applicable.

Greenkote®

Greenkote logo greenTension Control Bolts Ltd have built an innovative diffusion coating plant incorporating the very latest technology for the coating of bolts, nuts and washers.

The Greenkote® technology diffuses a dry zinc and aluminium powder coating into the base metal by a patented process. Unlike conventional coatings, Greenkote is environmentally friendly and does not produce any solid, liquid or gaseous toxic wastes. The process is also free of hexavalent chrome, cadmium, acids, cyanides or chlorides.

Greenkote is designed to reduce waste almost entirely. The use of the thermal, dry powder process minimizes the environmental impact as it eliminates the use of hazardous heavy metals and other materials such as acids and organic solvents.

Greenkote also provides an excellent preparation surface for painting, duplex coating, adhesives and rubber mouldings. The need for acid etching of fasteners prior to painting is completely eliminated.

Greenkote® anti-corrosion protection

Tension Control Bolts Ltd has its own metal coating plant producing an environmentally friendly anti-corrosion coating called Greenkote, which is comparable to galvanising, although it is harder wearing and readily accepts all paint systems. Learn more about Greenkote.
