Watson Steel began work on the steelwork for the 80,000 seater main Olympic Stadium in September 2008.

The stadium will host both the opening and closing ceremonies for the games of the XXX Olympiad as well as being the main hub for the athletics events during London 2012.

The stadium will be used for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games after which one of the proposals is for the upper tier to be dismantled and re-used leaving behind its legacy, a 25,000 seater athletics stadium. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United football clubs are also proposing schemes to take up residency once the games are finished.
